The Dryandra Road Underpass allows vehicular access to the General Aviation Precinct and the plane spotters’ area on Acacia Street. Aircraft will taxi over the top of the public roadway, connecting the existing terminals to the new runway once it is operational in mid-2020. This video explains an important element of the underpass, the jet blast screens, which ensure vehicles travelling below are protected from jet blast of aircraft travelling above.

Brisbane’s new runway is due to open in mid-2020 and once open, will give Brisbane the most efficient runway system in Australia. It will serve the needs of South East Queensland for decades to come, maintaining and growing our connections with the world as our city continues to grow, while building the gateway to Queensland & Australia.
